How did you discover Maisons du Monde?
I did several jobs before joining Maisons du Monde, in food service, secretarial work and retail. I already knew the company because I thought the stores were great and really unique. It made me want to apply, which I did by going into the store with a CV, I even waited for the manager to be there so I could talk to her. I was hired a little later, first on a short term contract during the Christmas holidays. Then I was called back for a cashier job, which I did for several years and this year I was promoted to head sales clerk.

What do you like most about your current job?
I like the versatility, the variety of tasks, from helping customers to merchandising. I can work anywhere in the entire store, I'm not confined to a certain department like at other types of stores. And then of course, there are the relations and contacts with the customers and also with my co-workers, we all get along really well, which is nice.

What are the qualities needed to be a head sales clerk?
You need to be attentive to the customers, friendly and cheerful. And I think it's also important to appreciate the products, have good taste.

We often advise customers about trends, and which items will look good with what they already have at home.

Can you describe a typical day?
We are always in the store, of course, that is our role. But there are also administrative tasks and keeping the store clean and straightening and stocking shelves.

We have a stable staff in the store, most of the staff has been there for more than 10 years so we know each other well and everyone knows what he or she has to do.
